Manister National School Opening
It was a special day in the small parish of Manister when the Minister of Education Mr Batt O'Keefe opened the new extension to Manister National School. This happened on Friday 12th September 2008.

Croom Railway Station
The Maigueside district was saddened to hear the news of the old Railway Station House Residence was destroyed by fire on Monday the 20th October. The burning of the Railway building brought back memories for senior members of the parish and district when Croom railway Station was part and parcel of the commercial life of Croom. The Railway Station was constructed on the 1st July 1862.
GAA
Pairc na Gael Cromadh was a hive of activity on Sunday last 10th May when Croom GAA Club celebrated 125 years since the Gaelic Athletic Association was Founded by Canon Hayes in Thurles.
Croom Pioneer Association
The Croom Pioneer Centre had a presentation of pens and certificates to those who have been members of the Pioneer Association.
Sean O Tuama Book Launch
The launch of the Sean O Tuamas publication O Chromadh an tSubhachais by well known historian and writer Liam Irwin. Liam has spent many years lecturing in Mary Imaaculate College Limerick and is native of Feenagh, Co. Limerick. The joint editors of this outstanding publication are Una Nic Einri and Milo Spillane. The location for the launch was the historic Granary building at the Old Mill. The night had an attendance of various people interested in folklore and poetry around the Maigueside district. Tea and refreshments were provided following the launch. The location of the launch added a nostalgic atmosphere to the launch of the life and times of one of the Fili na Maigh.
GAA Social
Croom GAA hosted their club social at the Woodlands House Hotel on Friday last to celebrate the various achievements that the various teams were victorious over the past 12 months.
